About Us

Founded in 2005, Design Miami is the definitive global platform for collectible design and the most influential fair in the international design ecosystem. For over two decades, it has set the benchmark for museum-quality 20th and 21st century furniture, lighting, and objets d’art, upheld by a rigorous vetting process that ensures exceptional quality, connoisseurship, and market integrity. Design Miami’s flagship fairs take place annually in Miami Beach each December and in Paris each October, convening the world’s most respected galleries, designers, collectors, institutions, and luxury brands in tightly curated presentations that represent the highest level of historic and contemporary design.

Extending its global platform, Design Miami also presents Design Miami In Situ, an exhibition format that brings the brand’s authority into distinctive architectural and cultural contexts, fostering regional engagement. To date, Design Miami’s footprint includes Basel, Milan, Los Angeles, Aspen, Shanghai, and Seoul. As the central meeting point for the design world’s most important voices and transactions, Design Miami continues to shape both the market and the cultural conversation around collectible design.

Design Miami was founded in 2005 by entrepreneur, real estate developer, and art and design collector Craig Robins. As the CEO and President of Dacra, Robins develops creative communities that integrate art, design and architecture. In 2000, Robins set about transforming the previously abandoned Miami Design District into one of the world’s most important centers for innovative design, fashion, food and art. In 2005 the renewal of the Miami Design District inspired the creation of Design Miami and subsequently Design Miami.Basel.

In 2015, Jen Roberts joined Design Miami as CEO and has introduced several new verticals for the company including Design Miami Curatorial Lab, a strategic consultancy to help businesses build cultural capital. In addition, Jen successfully launched Design Miami.Paris, and developed new event formats including Podium and In Situ. In October of 2023, Basic.Space announced the acquisition of Design Miami. Jesse Lee, the CEO and Founder of Basic.Space, is now the chairman of the Design Miami board, with Jennifer Roberts remaining as CEO.
