To know Amy Lau is to love her. From her warm, welcoming smile to her gorgeous, impeccably designed spaces, the New York-based designer is sure to draw you in. Lau’s interiors—equal parts sophistication, elegance, and joie de vivre—have earned her many of the industry’s most coveted design awards, including ELLE Decor’s A List, New York Magazine’s Top 100 List, and, most recently (and yet again), inclusion in the AD/100 List.

Over the past two decades, Lau has worked across residential and commercial projects for an illustrious client list full of serious art and design collectors, as well as the likes of Baccarat, Elie Tahari, Bergdorf Goodman, and the Museum of Arts & Design. A noted design expert, she is also a Design Miami/ champion, who helped bring the concept for a more alluring, more contemporary design fair to life back in 2005.

“I had the pleasure of being able to see this screen in person during the Milan Furniture Fair. The surreal curves and the sprayed high gloss finish in various shades of colors literally stop you in your tracks.”

“I love how one can spot Judy Kensley McKie’s signature style in this coffee table with panthers holding up the glass top. Art Deco in appearance, with its carved, embellished form, and its animated zoomorphic subject matter, it is a highly collectible piece.”

“This museum-worthy chest of drawers was created by the American sculpture and furniture artist, Wendell Castle. This particular piece was created in 1962, very early in his career, and showcases some of the first times where he introduces stack lamination as a new process, which allowed him such infinite flexibility.”

“Working with childlike playfulness, this unique ring by Karl Fritsch is really like wearing a tiny sculpture on your hand. Who wouldn't have fun wearing that!”

“I’m particularly enamored by this piece as it appears to be rendered from terrazzo. This effect is painstakingly achieved by using pieces of colored shards blown from previous glass and fused together against opaque white, giving this vase its unique pattern. This excellent artisanship is very economical at only $335.00.”

“The idea of specifying something called the Marshmallow Stool for one of my clients just cracks me up. I can just see their smiles appear in the morning as they sit on its unique, foam-like, marshmallow hot pink seat pouring over the bright yellow legs.”

“I absolutely love the look of the fluid bronze melting over the Secret Lagoon table by Reinier Bosch. Made of just one piece of bronze, Bosch captures our imagination with its sensuous curves and fluid look.”
