Hedges Projects

Jim Hedges bought his first Andy Warhol work of art in 1999 and his collection has grown to become one of the largest private collections of the artist’s work in the past 24 years, having acquired over 5000 works by the artist. In 2004, Hedges was first introduced to The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts and was allowed access to its archives and the ability to purchase artwork directly. Hedges spent literally hundreds of hours in The Foundation’s warehouse facilities reviewing, culling and selecting works of the highest quality. Over time, Hedges has become the largest purchaser of Warhol photographs from The Warhol Foundation and has also acquired works from other Warhol sources such as Warhol collaborators Pat Hackett (Editor of The Andy Warhol Diaries), Brigid Berlin and other members of Warhol’s inner circle at The Factory. Beginning in 2010, Jim Hedges began making institutional-scale acquisitions of Warhol photographs purchasing for cash, in bulk large troves of material insuring control of the most desirable subjects. Since that time, Hedges has been at the forefront of positioning Warhol photography around the world. Through partnerships with leading art galleries, art museums, charitable foundations, art fairs, luxury retailers, home & design retailers, architects and interior designers, hospitality companies and various pop-up events, Hedges has done more to increase the awareness and visibility of Warhol’s photographs than any other source in the world. In total, Hedges has mounted nearly 100 different worldwide showcases of Warhol photography and through Hedges Projects, also maintains a presence on three leading online luxury marketplaces: 1stDibs, Artsy, & Artnet.
