About Karry Berreby
Expertise/ Vintage and Contemporary Jewelery
Jewellery expert Karry Berreby is an icon of Parisian style. For Design Miami/ Paris 2023, Berreby will present a selection of jewels by: Bulgari, Piaget, and Chopard. Having studied at the legendary Studio Berçot, which produced an entire generation of fashion designers, she rose to prominence in the 1990s with the creation of her Karry’O brand, before going on to open a boutique of the same name at the heart of the Left Bank, on Rue des Saints-Pères, in 2002. Fashion editors and Paris "it girls" clamoured for the unconventional, exuberant, creative, baroque, ethnic, ultra-couture jewellery she selected for her store. She was one of the first to elevate jewellery to the rank of any wardrobe's most vital accessory. Karry built on her soon-to-be international reputation to further develop her creative world. The opening of Karry Gallery at 18 Rue de Lille took her into the select sphere of Left Bank antique dealers. Here too, she established a style of her own through bold choices, a mix of vintage finds and works by contemporary artists, combining the elegance of the past with the avant-garde of today. Naturally, this exclusive, expert signature extends to the jewellery she presents under the Karry Berreby name, once again imprinting her style through rare pieces and personal creations. First to reinstate Bulgari's 1970s Tubogas watches, and the fabulous gem-set timepieces of Chopard and Piaget, she introduced women to the until then male preserve of watch collecting. Whether historic pieces or her own creations, which she has made by the leading ateliers in Paris, monitoring every stage in their production, the emphasis is always on a very Parisian allure. This rare, multi-generational mix of nineteenth-century Italian earrings, signed and unsigned jewellery, earned her the 2015 Design Prize at the Pavillon des Arts Décoratifs et du Design in Paris – a prestigious gathering of the very best in the profession where she has exhibited for eight years, and which now has outposts in London and Monaco, where she is also present.
