FENDI presents Fendibackfrontals/ Design Miami/ 2023

by BLESS

For their collaboration, BLESS gained access to FENDI from a multitude of entry points, both public and personal, corporate and individual, to honor the Maison’s complexity.

BLESS runs a transdisciplinary studio founded in 1997 by Desiree Heiss and Ines Kaag in Paris and Berlin, offering inventive connections between art and design, fashion and architecture, new definitions for objects and products and creative solutions in business and social practices. For almost 25 years, starting with product N°07 Livingroom Conquerors in 1998, a series of dressing options to refresh much loved, but otherwise outmoded, domestic furniture, BLESS has constantly proposed furniture related products that reset our relation to design. For their collaboration, BLESS gained access to FENDI from a multitude of entry points, both public and personal, corporate and individual, to honour the Maison’s complexity. BLESS’ proposal for Design Miami/ 2023 is a playground of multifaceted approaches that bring out the strengths of FENDI, in a conscious inventory of what the Maison embodies today. The booth is dominated by four double-sided paravents developed in partnership with FENDI CASA, organised in such a way that they create both frontside scenery and backside parcours. The frontsides of these paravent elements host life-size photo documents (Wallscapes) of FENDI related interiors, while their backsides incorporate furniture, offering a functional approach in the form of seating, table, and storage elements. At the heart of Fendibackfrontals there is a deep desire in BLESS to celebrate FENDI’s remarkable savoir-faire, but also the less-sung value in having created a company that is at its very genesis a family affair and whose current, profoundly human structure, almost one hundred years later, remains akin to that of an extended family.
