SCAD: New commissions by Trish Andersen, Bradley Bowers, Lærke Lillelund, Eny Lee Parker
SCAD debuts commissions and new works by celebrated alumni at Design Miami.Paris 2024.
The specially curated showcase highlights innovative practices of artists from the university’s prestigious fibers, furniture design, industrial design, and interior design programs. Featured alumni include Trish Andersen (B.F.A., fibers, 2005), Lærke Lillelund (B.F.A., fibers, 2016), Bradley Bowers (M.A., furniture design, 2012; B.F.A., industrial design, 2010), and Eny Lee Parker (M.F.A., furniture design, 2018; M.A., furniture design, 2016; B.F.A., interior design, 2011). Elaborating on the historic architecture of the L’hôtel de Maisons, the presentation joins installations and forms defined by playful intrigue, exploring the expressive potential of color, material, and texture.
A sweeping floor covering by fibers artist Trish Andersen displays her imaginative use of tufting within a complex composition of abstracted forms and vivid colors. Lærke Lillelund iterates on the fluidity of her textile practice, combining traditional and digital techniques in an intricate installation of structural organza. Bradley Bowers reimagines a vintage sofa in one of his signature gradient fabrics, offering a sublime study of materiality and technology. Richly textural tables in wood and ceramic by Eny Lee Parker fascinate through their physicality, revealing the sense of the artist’s hand.
