Exhibited at DESIGN MIAMI.PARIS 2023 Marelene's newest work is made from a meticulous formation of thousands of silkworm’s cocoons which are varnished with a thin dark layer of a natural honeybee bio-resin and cast in silicon bronze. In Marlene’s signature style, she aims to highlight the beauty of the insect world while championing a process which is both slow and equally innovative. Her forms are charmingly ambiguous; playful shapes and variegated surfaces push the limits of functionality and highlight the possibilities for experimental design in society.
