Returning for a second year as DESIGN MIAMI Show Partner, Bottega Veneta is delighting fair visitors with a nostalgia-fueled yet on-the-pulse collection of lounge chairs, created in collaboration with Zanotta.
Called The Ark, the collection was designed by the luxury fashion house’s Creative Director, Matthieu Blazy, who worked with the venerable furniture brand to meticulously craft fresh, whimsical iterations on the Sacco, an icon of the postmodern era.

Originally designed in 1968 by Turin-based architects Piero Gatti, Cesare Paolini, and Franco Teodoro for Zanotta, the Sacco is an enduring emblem of the anti-design movement and the socially conscious changes that swept the globe in the ’60s and ’70s. With a name that translates to “sack” in English, the Sacco’s pliable, unstructured form rests directly on the floor and conforms to the sitter’s body, in celebration of informal, carefree, and joy-filled lifestyles.

Creative Director of Bottega Veneta since 2021, Blazy commissioned a limited-edition series from Zanotta that reinterprets the Sacco as a menagerie of darling animals. At the same time, the soft, fluid forms of the chairs recall the classic handbag designs that first brought Bottega Veneta to prominence in ’60s and ’70s.

The Ark collection debuted at Bottega Veneta’s SS25 runway show during Milan Fashion Week in September. For DESIGN MIAMI 2024, two exclusive editions are being offered: a light gray rabbit and a white hen. Each is an evocation of childlike wonder, boundless imagination, and what Blazy refers to as “the power of wow.”
