Léa Mestres
Designer
Léa Mestres is a young French designer born in Paris in 1992. After a few years studying in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, she set up her studio in Paris. In Léa's work, the line drawing leaves to the imagination a field of unlimited possibilities: it is a lacunar drawing, without real information, it shows neither scale, nor colour, nor materials, nor even perspective. Humour marks Léa's imagination.
Exhibited at DESIGN MIAMI.PARIS 2023 Far from the codes of 20th century industrial design, Léa proposes contemporary furniture with a soft geometry. Her work is characterized by everyday objects considered as sculptural phenomena. Without any restrictions, Léa imagines pieces at the limit of design and sculpture. Her Craving for plaster lamp collection is a bold combination of acidic colors with a compact material usually used in construction. In contrast, the Bubble series reveals deliberately asymmetrical furniture where the solid and the soft are combined. Since 2021 Léa has gone further in her artistic approach: always guided by freedom, she now integrates more noble materials into her collections such as the Bubble stool in marble or the Babette lamp in bronze. The joyful Léa likes to laugh, to have fun and makes it felt in her work by proposing pieces full of optimism. She brings the idea of going beyond having the same home and brings enthusiasm and cheerfulness to modern society. Materials: Statuario Marble.
